Copy the M3U link
It is in your activation message, in the form http://server:port/get.php with your username and password attached as parameters. Treat it exactly as you would a password — anyone holding that URL is holding your subscription, and it will happily play on their television instead of yours.
Paste it into the player
VLC wants Media, then Open Network Stream. Smart IPTV takes it at siptv.app/mylist. Kodi needs the IPTV Simple Client add-on and its M3U URL field. TiViMate and Smarters will both accept one, though on those two you should be using the Xtream login instead.
Add the EPG if the player asks
Some players want guide data supplied separately. It is the same server address ending in xmltv.php with your credentials attached, and the desk will send it across if you ask. Not every player supports it, and VLC certainly does not.
When it goes wrong, and what fixes it
The list loads very slowly
There are thousands of entries in that file and simpler players parse every one before displaying anything at all. Either move to a player that understands categories, such as TiViMate or Smarters, or ask us for a trimmed playlist limited to the groups you actually watch.
Some channels play and others do not
A playlist carries whatever the account carries, so this is a codec issue in the player rather than a gap in the line-up. Try the HD copy of the same channel, or switch the player’s decoder setting. VLC in particular is fussier than dedicated IPTV apps.
The link worked yesterday and not today
Check the subscription has not reached its end date. Failing that, confirm nothing has mangled the URL — chat apps and email clients sometimes wrap long links across two lines, and the second half gets left behind when you copy it.
There is no programme guide anywhere
That is expected. A plain playlist has no guide by design. Either add the xmltv.php URL if your player supports one, or switch to the Xtream Codes login, which brings the guide automatically.
The playlist opens in a browser as a download
That is normal — a browser does not know what to do with it. Do not open the link directly; paste it into a player instead. If you did download the file, delete it, because it contains your credentials in plain text.
The player only shows a handful of channels
Some simpler players cap how many entries they will parse from a single playlist, silently truncating the rest. If you are seeing a few hundred rather than thousands, that is the cause. Ask the desk for a category-limited playlist, which stays comfortably inside those limits.
Channel names appear but every one fails to play
The playlist parsed correctly, so the account and URL are fine — the player is failing at the video stage. Check the decoder setting, and confirm the device is not on a network that blocks streaming ports. Testing the same link in VLC on a laptop separates the two possibilities in about a minute.
Kodi imports the playlist but shows no guide
IPTV Simple Client needs the EPG URL configured separately from the playlist — they are two different fields in the add-on settings. Ask the desk for the xmltv address and paste it into the EPG field, then restart Kodi for it to take.

Why do free M3U lists from GitHub stop working?
Because they are other people’s streams, republished for anyone to take, and thousands of strangers hit the same source at once. The upstream provider notices and closes it, usually within days. There is no guide, nobody maintaining it, and the sites hosting those lists are a well-documented route for malware.
Can I share my M3U link with family?
You can, but understand what you are sharing: that URL is your subscription. Anyone holding it can watch on their own equipment, and their streams count against your simultaneous limit. If two households need access, two plans is the honest arrangement.
Is M3U worse quality than Xtream?
No — the streams are identical, because it is the same account and the same servers. What differs is the metadata around them: no guide, no on-demand section, no categories in simpler players.
Which players need M3U rather than Xtream?
Smart IPTV, Kodi via IPTV Simple Client, VLC, and a scattering of older television apps. Anything modern with an Xtream option should use that instead.
Can I get a shorter playlist with only my channels?
Yes, ask the desk. We can generate one limited to the categories you actually watch, which loads dramatically faster in simple players and makes VLC usable rather than painful.
Does the M3U link expire?
It stays valid as long as your subscription does. It does not rotate on a timer. If it stops working and your plan is still current, tell us — that usually means something truncated the URL rather than the link itself lapsing.
Can I open an M3U file on a phone?
Yes, most Android and iOS players accept a playlist URL. On a phone we would generally point you at the Xtream login instead, since every mobile player supports it and you get the guide as well.
Can I edit the playlist myself?
You can download it and edit it in a text editor, and some people trim theirs down that way. Bear in mind a saved copy goes stale as the line-up changes, and it still contains your credentials in plain text, so delete it when you are done.
Which is better for a smart TV, M3U or Xtream?
Xtream wherever the app supports it, which on Samsung and LG means IPTV Smarters. Reach for M3U only when the app leaves you no choice — Smart IPTV being the obvious case, since its whole model is built around uploading a playlist rather than entering a login.
Can I use one M3U link on two televisions at once?
The link itself will open on as many devices as you paste it into — nothing about the URL is device-specific. What stops you is the plan: if it allows one simultaneous stream, the second television will fail to play while the first is running. Two screens at once needs a two-screen plan, not a second link.
