How to Set Up IPTV on MAG and Formuler Boxes

MAG and Formuler boxes work differently from everything else on this site, and the difference is worth understanding before you start. They authenticate by hardware address rather than by username and password: we register your box’s MAC at our end, and the box then identifies itself. Nothing to type into a login form, but it does mean one step has to happen before you touch the box at all. Send us the MAC first and wait for us to confirm it is active. People who skip that and configure the portal anyway spend twenty minutes staring at an STB-blocked message that means nothing more than “not activated yet”. It is also worth deciding early which mode you want on a Formuler, because they are genuinely different experiences. Portal mode gives you the classic set-top interface driven by our server. Xtream mode turns it into a conventional player where you can run TiViMate alongside. Neither is wrong, but switching later means setting up again.

Before you start

  • MAG 3xx/4xx/5xx or Formuler Z8, Z10, Z11
  • The MAC address printed under the box
  • Stryvix4K portal URL (sent after you share the MAC)

Nothing to sign in with yet? Open a 24-hour trial and the desk sends credentials in minutes, or choose a plan.

Working through it

  1. Find the MAC address and send it to us

It is printed on the label underneath the box, and shown on screen under Settings, About device. On a MAG it begins 00:1A:79. Message it to the desk and wait for confirmation before going any further. Photographing the label beats retyping it — the characters are small and a single wrong digit costs you a support round trip.

    Get credentials first

  2. MAG: enter the portal URL

Go to Settings, System settings, Servers, Portals. Give Portal 1 any name you like, paste in the portal address we sent, save, and restart the box. The restart is not optional and it is not a suggestion — a MAG will not pick up a new portal until it reboots, and this is where most people conclude it has failed.

  3. Formuler: use MyTVOnline

Open MyTVOnline 2 or 3 and choose Add Portal, giving it a name and the portal address. Alternatively pick Xtream Codes and use the standard username and password login instead. A Formuler will also happily run ordinary Android players, so if MyTVOnline does not suit you, TiViMate from the Play Store is entirely valid on that hardware.

  4. Let it load, then set your favourites

The box pulls the full channel list and guide on first connection, which takes a minute or two. Once it lands, use the remote’s favourites key to build a working list — these boxes have excellent remotes and it is quick. This is also the moment to check the video output matches your television rather than discovering it mid-match.

When it goes wrong, and what fixes it

The portal shows "STB blocked" or a blank screen

Either the MAC has not been activated yet, or a character was mistyped when it was sent to us. Photograph the label and send the picture rather than retyping it — that resolves it within minutes nearly every time. It is not a fault with the box.

The portal saved but nothing happens

You almost certainly have not restarted. A MAG reads its portal configuration only at boot. Power cycle it properly rather than using standby, then look again.

The MAC on the label differs from the one on screen

Some boxes have separate wired and wireless adapters with different addresses. Use whichever matches the connection you actually intend to use, and tell us which one it is. Switching from Wi-Fi to Ethernet later means re-registering.

Everything worked, then stopped after a firmware update

MAG firmware updates occasionally clear the portal list. Re-enter the portal address exactly as before and restart. Your registration at our end is unaffected, so there is nothing to redo on the account side.

The picture is fine but there is no on-demand section

Portal mode presents whatever the portal exposes. If you would rather have the full on-demand library, switch a Formuler to the Xtream Codes login instead, which carries it. On a MAG the portal is the only option.

The remote works but the box feels unresponsive

MAG and Formuler boxes run warm and throttle when they are enclosed. Give it air — out of the cabinet, not stacked on the amplifier. That resolves a surprising share of the sluggishness reported to us on this hardware.

Video plays but the aspect ratio is wrong

Set the output resolution to match your television rather than leaving it on automatic, under the box’s video settings. Auto-detection over some HDMI switches and soundbars gets it wrong, and the box has no way to know.

The box boots to a black screen after a power cut

Usually the HDMI handshake failing rather than the box being dead. Power the television on first, then the box, and give it thirty seconds. If it recurs, set a fixed output resolution instead of automatic so it stops renegotiating on every boot.

What to run on this hardware

Stuck anywhere on your MAG and Formuler box?

Send the desk a photo of the screen and someone will talk you through it. Plans start at $15 a month for the full 25,000+ channels, with credentials issued under 15 minutes.

MAG and Formuler box IPTV FAQ

Is a MAG box better than a Firestick for IPTV?

For a main television, arguably yes — the remotes are better, the interface is built for live television rather than adapted to it, and they are more stable over long sessions. The trade-off is price and the MAC registration step. A Firestick is cheaper, more flexible and easier to replace.

Do I need to tell you if I buy a second box?

Yes, because each box authenticates by its own MAC. Send us the new address and we will add it. Remember that two boxes streaming at once counts as two screens against your plan.

Can I use a MAG box abroad?

Yes, it is tied to the MAC rather than to a location. Take it with you and it works wherever there is a connection, subject to whatever the local network does to streaming traffic.

What is the difference between MyTVOnline 2 and 3?

Version 3 is the newer interface, shipped with the more recent Formuler models. Both accept a portal or an Xtream login and both work here; 3 is simply tidier to navigate.

My box is old. Is it still supported?

Most likely. Portal authentication has been stable for years and older MAG models continue to work. Send the desk the model number and we will tell you plainly rather than let you find out by trial.

Can I run TiViMate on a Formuler?

Yes, on the Android-based models — install it from the Play Store exactly as on any Android box. You would use the Xtream login rather than the portal for that. This is a genuine advantage Formuler has over MAG hardware.

What happens to my portal if I sell the box?

Tell us before you do. The subscription is registered to that MAC address, so it needs moving to whatever you replace it with, and you do not want your credentials leaving the house on working hardware.

Do I need to keep the box updated?

Apply firmware updates when offered, but not the night before something you want to watch. Updates occasionally clear the portal list, which is a two-minute fix in daylight and an annoyance at kick-off.

Should I buy a MAG box new in 2026?

For a fresh purchase we would steer you to a Formuler instead. It does everything a MAG does, including portal mode, and additionally runs ordinary Android players like TiViMate. A MAG makes sense if you already own one or your provider only supports portals; otherwise you are paying similar money for fewer options.
