Best IPTV Apps in 2026: TiViMate vs Smarters vs Smart IPTV vs IBO Player

There is no best IPTV app, only the best one for the device in front of you — and since the answer is dictated almost entirely by which platform you own, this is a shorter decision than it looks. Below is how we actually advise people in the chat, including where each player falls down.

The one-line answer

Android hardware: TiViMate. Anything else: IPTV Smarters Pro. Older Samsung or LG sets that struggle: Smart IPTV. That covers about ninety-five per cent of the households we deal with.

TiViMate

Android TV, Google TV, Firestick (sideloaded), Nvidia Shield, Formuler. Not available on Apple, Samsung or LG.

This is the only player in the field that feels like it was designed by somebody who watches live television. The programme guide behaves like a real EPG rather than a list with times attached, channel switching is quick, and the whole interface assumes a remote in your hand rather than a finger on glass.

The free version plays everything and shows the guide. Premium, at roughly $9.99 a year, adds recording, multi-view and multiple playlists. One thing catches out nearly everybody: Premium is purchased through the separate TiViMate Companion app on a phone, not from inside TiViMate on the television.

Where it falls down: it simply does not exist outside Android. Anything in the Apple, Samsung or LG stores using that name is a copy trading on it.

IPTV Smarters Pro

Effectively everywhere: Android, Firestick, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Samsung, LG, Windows, macOS.

The default, and what we recommend to anyone setting up for the first time. It is free, it exists on every platform, and it behaves identically across all of them — which matters more than it sounds, because it means learning it once lets you fix any screen in the house.

It is not as good as TiViMate. The guide is serviceable rather than pleasant and the interface has the feel of something built to a specification. But availability beats polish when you are trying to get a Samsung set working at ten at night.

Where it falls down: it is heavier than it needs to be, which tells on older televisions. There is also a persistent problem with clones in app stores; take the one from the official site or your platform’s main listing, and ignore anything asking you to buy a subscription inside the app.

Smart IPTV (SIPTV)

Samsung and LG.

The lightest player available on those platforms, and on a pre-2019 set that lightness transforms the experience. If Smarters is sluggish on your television, this is the fix.

It works unusually: there is no login screen. The app displays your television’s MAC address, and you upload your playlist against that address from a phone or laptop at siptv.app/mylist. After a seven-day trial it asks a small one-off payment per television, made to the developer rather than to your provider.

Where it falls down: the MAC upload confuses people, the per-television fee surprises them, and the “playlist expired” message it produces after a firmware reset causes a great deal of unnecessary alarm. None of those relate to your subscription.

IBO Player

Samsung, LG, Android.

Works on a similar model to Smart IPTV — a device key uploaded on a website — with a one-off activation fee. Some people prefer its interface. It is a legitimate third option if the other two do not suit your set, though we reach for it less often simply because there is rarely a reason to.

Where it falls down: a smaller user base means fewer people have written about whatever goes wrong, so troubleshooting is slower.

The settings worth changing in any of them

Whichever you land on, four settings account for most of the difference between a player that feels good and one that annoys you. They are buried in slightly different places in each app, but they all exist.

• Decoder: set it to hardware. This is the first thing we ask about when someone reports stuttering, and it resolves it more often than any other single change. If one specific channel misbehaves while everything else is fine, switch that one channel to software instead of changing the global setting.
• Buffer length. A longer buffer rides out network dips at the cost of slower channel changes. A shorter one flips instantly but gives up when the line wobbles. There is no correct answer — try both across an evening and keep the one that irritates you less.
• Hide unused categories. Ten minutes doing this on day one is the single highest-value thing you will do. A list of thousands is unusable; a list of the forty groups you actually watch is pleasant.
• Guide refresh interval. Every twelve hours is sensible. More often wastes bandwidth; less often leaves you with a guide that has drifted out of date by the weekend.

Apps to be careful with

Two warnings, both of which come up regularly in the chat.

Name-alike clones. Store listings called TiviMato, Tivimax, or “IPTV Smarters Player Pro Plus” are not the applications they resemble. Some are merely poor; some carry advertising injected over the video; a few ask for payment for something that is free elsewhere. Check the developer name against the official one before installing.

Anything asking you to buy a subscription inside the app. None of the players listed here sell IPTV subscriptions. If an app is offering to sell you channels, it is either a clone or a bundled reseller arrangement, and neither is what you want sitting between you and your provider.

Three points that save a lot of confusion:

• The app holds no channels. Every one of these is an empty shell until credentials go in. “Free IPTV app” is accurate and also meaningless — the app was never the thing you pay for.

An older Samsung or LG that feels slow: Smart IPTV and accept the small fee.

The one thing to keep track of is simultaneous streams. Installing the app on six devices costs nothing, but how many can play at the same moment is set by your plan, and a household that regularly wants three at once should simply buy the three-screen plan rather than argue about it every evening.
